The establishment of National Highways Authority of India was in the year 1995. The Highway was established with the act of Parliament, 1988. Chairman is managing the whole National Highways Authority of India with 5 members. The main purpose of establishing the National Highways Authority of India is to maintain the networks to high standards and also to meet the expectation of the individuals regarding the National Highway.
The company has implemented the project which is National Highways Development Project because of controlling the uninterrupted traffic flow in our country and also to maintain the largest highway project. To serve as the arterial network the total length of the National Highways is calculated as 71,772 km. The Government of India is taking the complete responsibility of developing the best National Highways.
The Chairman of the National Highways Authority of India is Shri Yudhvir Singh Malik, IAS. In the year 2001, the largest and the fifth longest National Highway was launched in our country. The Quadrilateral highway network was established and the interesting thing is that it is connecting Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi and Chennai which is a major centre for cultural, industrial and agricultural sectors of India.
